Toy Story 4 Delayed, The Incredibles 2 Release Date Announced

We’re going to have to wait just that little bit longer for ‘Toy Story 4′, after Disney Pixar confirmed today that rather than being released on June 16, 2017, Woody, Buzz and the gang will actually be with us on June 15, 2018.

And just to rub salt into the wound that little bit more, ‘The Incredibles 2′, which some folks were hoping could be out within the next few years, won’t actually be released until June 21, 2019.

But why have Pixar decided to keep us waiting on tenterhooks for the third sequel to their first ever film to be in cinemas? Well, they’ve decided to move ‘Cars 3′ into the June 16, 2017, position instead.

For most Pixar fans that’s scant consolation, because the ‘Cars’ franchise is widely regarded to have produced the worst films of the studio’s catalogue.

Meanwhile, ‘Toy Story’ has not only been responsible for Pixar’s most esteemed and profound efforts, but it’s also arguably the greatest trilogy in the history of cinema.

Because of this reputation, Pixar are going to infinity and beyond to make sure it’s perfect. All that we know at the moment is that Rashida Jones and Will McCormack wrote the script, from a story by John Lasseter, who is returning to direct.

Meanwhile, the story for the film is set to revolve around Woody and Buzz Lightyear’s pursuit to bring Bo Peep, who was absent from ‘Toy Story 3′, back to the gang. Hopefully this is still the case, and the reason for the delay is purely for a few tweaks and changes.

Brad Bird has been constantly reminding us that he’s still at work on the script for ‘The Incredibles 2,’ the original of which he wrote and directed, so it’s not that much of a surprise that the film is still several years away.

Sure, four years away is a kick in the teeth. but we’ve been waiting for a sequel for 11 years now so four more is basically nothing.

To appease our objections with these release dates, Pixar also released two new posters for ‘Toy Story 4′ and ‘The Incredibles 2′. You can check out the rather familiar logo for ‘Toy Story 4,’ courtesy of the film’s Facebook page’ here

They’re OK, I guess. I’d rather have ‘Toy Story 4′ and ‘The Incredibles 2′ in cinemas sooner though.
