New in town: Oud Restaurant — Open kitchen Muslim-owned diner in Bugis has Argentinian T-bone, avocado mousse fries
Looking for your next dining spot when in Bugis? Check out the newly opened Oud Restaurant, a Muslim-owned establishment specialising in an open kitchen concept and open firewood grills.
Oud Restaurant, located along Kandahar Street, is helmed by Chef Indra and Chef Ridz — Chef Indra formerly worked under renowned chefs like Daniel Boulud, Patrick Hendriroux and Stephane Istel, while Chef Ridz, a graduate of Shatec, worked under Chef Seita Nakahara. The duo later founded Burgs by Project Warung in 2017, a fast food burger brand.
Oud Restaurant’s menu consists of Halal-friendly dishes, as well as vegetarian and gluten-free options to cater to various individual dietary needs.
Dig into Oud Restaurant’s starters, such as the Chilled Capellini (S$16), made with Sakura ebi and shio kombu, or the Sea Scallop Aburi (S$21), for those who prefer seafood.
The highlights of the menu are the range of freshly grilled meat and seafood dishes, such as the Argentinian Ribeye (250g) (S$38), served with a choice of bearnaise, peppercorn or truffle sauce, or the Oudgrilled Lamb Ribs (S$36). The restaurant also offers 2 sea bass dishes, the Oudgrilled Chilean Sea Bass (S$30) and the Atlantic Sea Bass ($24), which comes with potato puree and brown butter garlic sauce.
Are you dining with a group of friends? Be sure to get the sharing dishes, suitable to feed multiple people. How about some Oudgrilled Black Angus Beef Short Ribs (S$86) or Spatchcock Percik (S$38) to go around? Both dishes weigh approximately 1kg.
I have my eye on the Argentinian T-Bone (S$98), which sounds absolutely heavenly.
Oud Restaurant also offers exciting desserts for a sweet finish to your meal. Their Teh Tarik (S$11) is served with a homemade waffle cone and teh espuma, while Grandma’s Banana Cake (S$10.50) will be sure to delight, as it comes topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.
