New in town: Mio Fine Foods — Artisanal Japanese fine dining restaurant with high quality sashimi and sandos

Japanese restaurants are common in Singapore, but Mio Fine Foods caught my eye with its selection of stunning artisanal Japanese dishes.

Mio Fine Foods opened on 5 August 2022 along Neil Road, and boasts an elegant zen garden-themed interior. The restaurant uses only fresh and high quality ingredients, with ingredients being air-flown into Singapore on a weekly basis.

Check out their adorable Sushi Balls (S$18), consisting of eight assorted sushi toppings like salmon, southern bluefin tuna, swordfish, yellowtail and prawn. The flavours of the Sushi Balls are dependent on their availability.

For a bigger sushi platter, go for Mio Fine Foods’ Premium Nigiri Sushi (S$40), containing sushi topped with torched tuna belly, Hokkaido scallops with yuzu peel, southern bluefin tuna, torched salmon belly, salmon with mentaiko, swordfish, yellowtail and torched Japan wagyu beef with fried garlic.

If you’d like to try something a little more exciting, the Nori Taco comes with seaweed “taco” shells filled with avocado puree and sushi rice. Each dish contains two Nori Tacos, and are available with the fillings of Assorted Sashimi (S$14), Soft Shell Crab (S$16) and Negitoro Uni (S$22).

Sashimi lovers will be spoilt for choice, as Mio Fine Foods offers a multitude of sashimi dishes, including Uni Sashimi (S$38), Toro Sashimi (S$38), Mekajiki Sashimi (S$25), Hamachi Sashimi (S$25) and Sake Sashimi (S$15).

Meat lovers, don’t fret, for Mio Fine Foods also has plenty of wagyu beef dishes. Select from a range of delectable wagyu dishes, like the Wagyu Uni Rice Bowl (S$62), Wagyu Sando (S$40), Wagyu Nori Taco (S$18) and Wagyu Teppanyaki (S$55).

Other dishes include the Seafood Mentaiko Pasta (S$22), Unagi Ikura Rice Bowl (S$28), Hotate Salmon Zaru Soba (S$29) and Hotate Uni Truffle Somen (S$38).
