New in town: Liang Ji (梁記) returns at Telok Blangah with wasabi floss carrot cake & ultimate char kway teow
About a month ago, I was writing about Liang Ji and how it’s a pity that it’s closing down. However, there’s been a dramatic turn of events. The owner of Liang Ji, Mr. Dominic Neo, has announced that he has set up a new stall at Telok Blangah and it’ll officially open on 15 July 2022. Yes, he is back!
Previously, Mr. Dominic had said that he wished a miracle would happen, and indeed there was one! A very good friend of his found it a pity that Liang Ji had closed down, and helped him out by restarting his new stall. Having seen all the ups and downs that Mr. Dominic had gone through, he believed that he would be successful one day.
Despite being such a controversial hawker (judging from all the comments I received on the previous article I wrote), Mr. Dominic battles on and has immense passion for his food. With the opening of this new stall, he would like to evolutionise his char kway teow and carrot cake to greater heights.
You can expect a few new items on his menu like the Ultimate Char Kway Teow (S$15), which comes with crab meat and oysters with his char kway teow. His Wasabi Floss Carrot Cake (S$6), with the addition of pork floss, will definitely tingle your taste buds if you fancy Japanese-local fusion. Liang Ji’s Cheezy Tuna Carrot Cake (S$6), which was previously launched for the June school holidays for kids, will be a permanent addition to his menu.
The undying passion of Mr. Dominic who keeps coming back even after a few failures and setbacks, is respectable. Love it or hate it, Liang Ji is here once again!
