Tony Leung chosen as BIFF's Asian Filmmaker of the Year

8 Sep – Hong Kong star Tony Leung Chiu Wai has been selected to be the recipient of this year's Asian Filmmaker of the Year by the Busan International Film Festival.

The actor will be receiving the award at the festival's opening ceremony on 5 October, while six of his movies, selected by Tony himself, will be screened at the event.

These include Wong Kar Wai's "2046" and "In the Mood For Love", as well as Andrew Lau and Alan Mak's "Infernal Affairs".

Meanwhile, the festival will screen 354 films including 89 world premieres and 13 international premieres.

The festival will be running from 5 to 14 October.
