Tong Liya announces divorce on Chinese lovers day
21 May – While other people express love for each other on the 520 Day - the unofficial Valentine's Day in China, actress Tong Liya decided to announce her divorce instead.
As reported on Mingpao, on 20 May, the actress shared a post on Weibo that read, "I had a worthwhile time and am looking forward to the future. Thank you."
This comes after ex-husband and filmmaker Chen Sicheng posted their family photo, writing, "From 2011 to 2020, the story ended. You will always be the one that I love most. I will protect you under a different status now."
Sources alleged that Tong and Chen have signed their divorce papers last year in secret, seeing that Chen posted the end of their marriage as being in 2020.
The two started dating after working together in the TV series, "Beijing Love Story" in 2010, and tied the knot in 2014. Their son Duo Duo was born two years later.
However, their happy marriage did not last, with Chen being accused of several extra-marital affairs throughout the years.
Meanwhile, fans of the actress celebrated the divorce, saying that the actress deserves better than Chen.
