It looks as though Toby Kebbell will be heading to Skull Island… as he lands a role in the upcoming ‘King Kong’ sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 33-year-old British actor has landed a role in the upcoming creature feature, ‘Kong: Skull Island’.

“Toby Kebbell, who is coming off a villainous turn as Dr. Doom in Fantastic Four, is in negotiations to join the cast of Legendary and Universal’s monster movie Kong: Skull Island.”

Of course, prior to his ‘Fantastic Four’ appearance, Kebbell was perhaps best known for staring alongside Andy Serkis in ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’, performing the motion capture for Koba – the treacherous ape lieutenant.

He’s also appeared in the likes of ‘RocknRolla’, ‘Wrath of the Titans’ and will play the orc warrior Durotan in the upcoming ‘Warcraft’ movie.

“Legendary is already a fan of Kebbell’s, having hired him for its fantasy movie Warcraft,” they reveal. “The actor is also one of the stars of MGM’s upcoming Ben-Hur and will appear in J.A. Bayona’s A Monster Calls.”

But who is he playing in ‘Skull Island’?

For now, details of his role remain under wraps… but while ‘Fantastic Four’ may have proved to be a bit of a flop, I can’t help thinking that Kebbell has proved his villainous acting chops. And I’d love to see him get to grips with another villainous role.

‘Kong: Skull Island’ will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts with screenwriter Derek Connolly being brought on to bring the script to a close before its late-October production date in Hawaii.

Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and Corey Hawkins are already starring in the movie, which is now rumoured to be a sequel to Peter Jackson’s ‘King Kong’. Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Reilly are said to be circling currently unknown roles.

‘Kong: Skull Island’ heads to cinemas on 10 March 2017.
