The Only Way Is Essex's Nanny Pat Has Died
It has been announced that The Only Way Is Essex’s Nanny Pat, real name Pat Brooker, passed away this morning after battling a short illness.
The TV personality was grandmother to Essex favourites, Mark and Jess Wright, with the family releasing a statement to confirm the sad news.
They shared: “Sadly our amazing, courageous and beautiful Nanny Pat passed away this morning after a short illness.
"We are overwhelmed by sadness, and the whole family ask for privacy at this horrible time.”
Nanny Pat won over TOWIE fans with her appearances on the show, even celebrating her 80th birthday on the ITVBE reality programme just last month.
In the emotional episode she broke down in tears when Jess presented her with a photo of her late husband, Charles Brooker, before her daughter, Carol Wright, made a touching speech.
Addressing Pat’s friends and family, Carol said: “I would like to thank everyone for celebrating Mummy’s birthday. This little old lady puts everyone first and never asks for anything in return - apart from a packet of candy!
"She nursed my father right up until the day he passed away. Just before he died, he held my hand and said make sure you look after your mother. Well, we have, Dad.
"She is such an inspirational lady and I’m so lucky to be able to call her my mother.”
