The latest buzz around Taylor Swift has to do with her tenth studio album, “Midnights,” arriving Oct. 21 after she surprised Swifties around the globe by announcing it after accepting the MTV VMA for Video of the Year. But Swift has another big debut on the horizon — an onscreen role in the movie “Amsterdam.”
Swift has shifted into high gear since the onset of the pandemic, when she produced not just one but two full albums back to back, “folklore” in the summer of 2020 and “evermore” in the winter the same year. As if that weren’t enough for anyone using lockdown as their new creative outlet, Swift has also re-recorded two of the six albums that she will reclaim the rights to after the masters were sold by Scooter Braun in Swift’s past deal with Big Machine Records.
Since she already is the music industry, Swift has moved to cinema for her next space of domination. She has already contributed over 13 songs to various movie soundtracks, most recently “Carolina” for the film adaptation of Delia Owens’ wildly popular novel “Where the Crawdads Sing.” Swift has also appeared in several films as well, and “Amsterdam” will mark first project with director David O. Russell.
