Tang Wei's comeback movie to compete in Cannes
16 Apr - Chinese actress Tang Wei is happy that her new movie, "Long Day's Journey into Night" has been selected to compete in the Un Certain Regard section of the 71st Cannes Film Festival.
As reported on Epoch Times, the movie which is directed by award-winning filmmaker Bi Gan, is the movie that marked Tang's comeback after her long pregnancy and baby hiatus.
In a previous interview, Tang stated that the reason she said yes to the project was due to the character that was offered to her, which was different from her previous movies.
She even went to Kaili City in the southeastern Guizhou province to further hone the dialect and understand the local customs in preparation for the movie.
When asked about the selection recently, Tang stated that she is ecstatic about it.
"I admire Bi Gan's fearless exploration through this movie. It evokes similar enthusiasm among us for the project," she said.
The movie, which co-stars Sylvia Chang and Huang Jue, tells the story of a man who returns to his hometown to find a mysterious woman whom he spent time with during the summer 12 years earlier.
