Tampines 1 returns with new Mister Donut outlet, “royalty-exclusive” perfumes & more

The East-siders have triumphed again. Following a S$38 million revamp, Tampines 1 is picking up the Tamp-o (JIC, I meant tempo) with a new look!

Tampines 1 - Storefront

What’s new? Expect a diverse blend of fresh and familiar faces opening around June. From popular international brands to beloved local favourites, there ought to be something for everyone at Tampines 1.

Sooo for your easy reference, here are some stalls to look out for.

Mister Donut

Unless you live under a rock, this crazy popular Japanese doughnut chain needs no introduction.

I fondly recall customers doing the walk of shame, turning away from the snaking queue at their first Junction 8 outlet. Renowned for the Pon de Ring doughnut which boasts a mochi-like texture, Mister Donut offers a variety of flavours, including Glazed, Strawberry and Chocolate. Be sure to try their French Cruller too. Loaded with decadent custard cream, the fluffy Angel French is my personal favourite.

If you haven’t had the chance, it’s time to snag these doughnuts.

Luckin Coffee

Yes, that Chinese coffee brand with S$0.99 brews.

AKA the Starbucks of China, Luckin Coffee’s rapid expansion in our sunny island shows no signs of slowing down. Reflected in their tech-driven approach, all orders are purchased through their application. This allows customers to order their drinks in advance and collect them afterwards! With over 300 million cups sold in China, the signature Iced Coconut Latte is a must-try.

Fun fact – The refreshing latte is made using plant-based coconut milk (lactose-intolerants rejoice). Oh, they are having a 1-for-1 bestie deal on their best-selling drink too.

Tiong Bahru Bakery

Cue to Singapore’s very own homegrown bakery

Tampines 1 - Tiong Bahru Bakery

Tiong Bahru Bakery is famed for their buttery croissants and other French-inspired bakes with a local twist. Handcrafted with premium ingredients, the bakery has a delightful array of baked babies such as Pain Au Chocolat, Chilli Crab Pie and Salted Egg Yolk Brioche. My fam would never leave an outlet without the Original Kouign Amann. This flaky pastry has a caramelised exterior with airy layers within.

Best enjoyed with a cuppa kopi, welcome home to a perfect breakfast.

Rrooll

Touted as “Singapore’s Best Cinnamon Rolls”, Rrooll (stylised as rrooll) will keep you rolling back for more.

Tampines 1 - rrooll

The halal-certified bakery specialises in artisanal cinnamon rolls which have the perfect balance of sweetness and spice. Just Classic Cinnamon? Think again. Rrooll has a versatile range that includes options like Biscoff Coffee, Crunchy Ovaltine and Apple Cinnamon which I swear by. That juicy apple cube topping is to die for!

Tip: For those who prefer to munch on the go, their bite-sized Assorted Minis will complement “any brunch, dessert spread, or snack time”.

SnacKING

Let’s take a trip down memory lane. As its name suggests, SnacKING is a snack chain that has a king-like selection

Tampines 1 - SnacKING

Here, you can find nostalgic savoury and sweet snacks that are usually found in neighbourhood mama shops. Starting from S$0.10, indulge in a spread of old-school treats that are reminiscent of your childhood. Aside from Kuih Piring, Ring Pop Candy, Craze Hottis or Potato Wheel Crackers, the chain also sells classic toys like Kuti Kuti, Five Stones and more.

Here, you can rediscover the feeling of having a “child-like wonder” again.

Scented Journals

If you want to smell like royalty, this perfume store is the answer to all your regal needs.

Tampines 1 - Scented Journals

Opened by Novela, a local multi-brand beauty retail chain, Scented Journals features a niche range of fragrances that cannot be easily found in Singapore! Among their 11 luxurious European brands, Rancé 1795 is one worth noting. Why? Believe it or not, this perfume haus was once a French royalty-exclusive.

They also have Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur, a haute brand by Ms Patricia de Nicolai, the first woman to clinch the esteemed International Perfumer-Creator Award. I’m pretty sure that these scents will turn heads.

SaSa

After closing all 22 branches in 2019, Hong Kong’s biggest cosmetics chain is returning to Singapore shores.

Tampines 1 - SaSa

At their newly-opened Tampines 1 outlet, SaSa will offer more than 100 brands from all around the world. This includes famed beauty names like Korea’s Eo Yung Gam, Japan’s Haruhada, USA’s Moira and Switzerland’s Suisse Programme that are exclusive to SaSa and not available locally anywhere else. Mind you, the list does not even end here.

Good news to fellow beauty fanatics, word on the street is that they always have exciting promotions and discounts coming your way. For example, the Buy 2 Free 1 Mix & Match Mask Deal till 31 Oct.

With ALL that in mind, are you ready for a Journey to the East?
