Takagi Ramen releases National Day promo featuring cockles milk tea & cockles ramen

Cockles are truly a staple in Singapore dishes we know and love, but it’s not often we see them in bubble tea. Yes, you read that right – Takagi Ramen has recently launched a bizarre limited-time menu in conjunction with our great nation’s 59th birthday.

The menu features Salted Cheese Milk Tea with Pickled Cockles and Sengkang Ramen with raw cockles, which are now available at all Takagi Ramen outlets islandwide.

Coinciding with their latest outlet opening in Anchorvale Village, this promotion will truly warm the cockles of your heart (quoting our Sengkang MP Jamus Lim here!). The Sengkang Ramen (S$7.90) is based on their classic 12-hour-boiled tonkotsu ramen, with the exception being a pile of fresh, individually shucked cockles topped with Thai chilli sauce.

You’ll have the option to request raw or cooked cockles, depending on your preference. As a bonus, noodle refills are free during this period, so slurp up as much as you want!

Trade up your pearls for cockles with the Salted Cheese Milk Tea with Pickled Cockles (S$4.90). This interesting combination may not be for the faint-hearted or those who prefer to play it safe with food options.

Here, the standard tapioca pearls have been replaced with shoyu-marinated pickled cockles, adding an extra layer of texture and a briny, umami taste profile to complement the sweet and salty beverage.

Who knows, we might head down to give it a shot before knocking it – or even prank some of our co-workers in the office to see if they can tell the difference between tapioca pearls and cockles in their drink. So go on and get adventurous with your palate and let us know if it’s worth a try!
