Albie: I don’t want to defend myself

Andi Eigenmann may have already named him as the father of her unborn child. But Albie Casiño would rather keep mum about the issue.

Asked why he hasn’t commented about it yet, Albie answered, “I don’t know. I’d rather be just quiet and not talk about it.”

Albie admits he hasn’t spoken to Andi or her family yet.

“Not yet. Kung meron siya (initiative). If she has one, I guess,” Albie said at the presscon of “Aswang,” his movie for Regal Films.

Andi’s parents Mark Gil and Jaclyn Jose have spoken up about their daughter’s pregnancy, as well as their strong message to the baby’s unnamed father. But Albie said he is not aware of their comments since he doesn’t read much about issues surrounding himself.

“I really don't want to say anything against them. I'd just rather not talk about them, honestly,” Albie said.

The young actor added that he is open to talking with Andi and her family if they would like to do so.

"I don't want anything from them. If they want something from me, sila ang pupunta,” Albie told the press.

Albie earned the ire of people speculating that he is the father of Andi’s baby even before she named him in her blog. However, Albie said that he doesn’t feel bad about these accusations.

No anger

“Wala namang galit. Hindi ako nagha-harbor ng galit. Of course, it’s unfair. Pero nothing’s fair in life naman. I can’t do anything about it. I can’t fix that,” Albie mused.

Neither is he keen on defending himself in public since Albie feels people have already pre-judged him. Albie added that what’s important is that his family and friends know who he really is as a person.

“I don't really want to defend myself. I'm really a positive person pero yung malinis yung pangalan ko, I think malabo yun.  No offense, but the press can make it look like what they want it to look like,” he said.

Albie pointed out that he is willing to take a DNA test if both parties agree on it.  But he’s not too interested in it.

"I think that was from the start pa yan (issue). Pero sige di ba?  But I really don't think about it honestly,” Albie said.

On Jake Ejercito

What can he say about observations that Andi’s friend, Jake Ejercito, is very supportive and caring of her and that he is taking his responsibility toward her more seriously?

“Well, good for him. Congrats to you, man," Albie replies.

The experience has taught Albie to “choose wisely” from here on.

The controversy also made him worry for his career at first. After all, he lost some projects along the way. But Albie is now confident he can carry on.

“Sabi sa akin ng ABS-CBN, may mga projects naman daw sila for me. And wag daw akong mag-alala. Ako naman I just trust them. Dumaan yun sa isip ko (yung takot) pero I don't really care about it,” Albie said.
