Newly crowned Tokyo 2020 Olympics table tennis women singles champion, Chinese paddler Chen Meng, is popular Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming’s cousin.

After defeating Singapore’s Yu Mengyu in the women’s singles semi-finals, Chen became a hot topic in Singapore and her homeland, China. While her relationship with Huang was uncovered when she first joined the Chinese national team, her stellar performance in the Olympics earned her more fans, many of whom do not know about her ties with the popular Chinese actor. “Huang Xiaoming is Chen Meng’s cousin,” a netizen commented.

Speaking to Chinese media after the game, Chen shared that her cousin sent her a text before the game to wish her all the best. “Let’s meet up back in Qingdao,” she replied to Huang’s Weibo post via the media interview.
