Sylvia Chang to star in a Malaysian movie

25 Apr – Award-winning Taiwanese filmmaker Sylvia Chang is set to star in a Malaysian production, entitled "Shuttle Life".
As reported on Star2, the 62-year-old versatile star will be working alongside Jack Tan of pop duo Thomas Jack in the movie, to be directed by Tan Seng Kiat ("Hello, Goodbye").
Movie producer Ong Lay Jin of More Entertainment stated that they are happy to be given the opportunity to work with Sylvia, who has starred and directed various critically-acclaimed films including the 2004 "20 30 40" and the 2015 Jia Zhangke film, "Mountains May Depart".
The project previously won the 2014 Golden Horse Film Project Promotion's Grand Prize in Taiwan, an award that included a cash grant of NTD1 million (approximately USD120,500).
The company stated that they took quite a while trimming the script, which was finally completed back in January, and then decided to offer the role of a repressed mother to the award-winning actress, believing that nobody else would be able to portray such a difficult character.
"We were surprised when she agreed to do the movie, and we're very grateful to her for doing it with us," said the producer.
The actress reportedly has also given many suggestions during their meetings to further improve the overall production.
Meanwhile, Jack, who is set to play Sylvia's son in the movie, enthused, "I have never expected that I will one day have the opportunity to work with Sylvia."
"Shuttle Life" will commence shooting in May in locations around Kuala Lumpur.
