Sylvia Chang honoured with Outstanding Contribution award

13 Jun – Taiwanese filmmaker Sylvia Chang has recently been honoured the Outstanding Artistic Contribution award at the 2018 Hong Kong Arts Development Award.

As reported on Mingpao, the filmmaker, who accepted the award from good friend Johnnie To, joked that she was worried that the director would not arrive on time to give her the award.

"I would like to thank him for coming," she lightheartedly added.

Sylvia also thanked the Hong Kong Art Development for such an encouragement.

"This award makes me feel like I still have a very long way to go," she said.

The filmmaker stated that it was extra special to her since her mother was able to witness the whole ceremony, especially after she was left empty-handed at the Golden Horse Awards earlier.

"She didn't need to worry about me losing this time, since I definitely getting an award," she said with a laugh.
