Susan Lankester wins Best Actress back-to-back for "Rain Town"
9 Dec - It looks like 2024 is a lucky year for Susan Lankester, who has won another Best Actress accolade for her performance in "Rain Town".
The actress bagged home the accolade at the 33rd Malaysian Film Festival Award (FFM33) for her performance as the peacekeeping mother with her own struggles, Aileen Choo in the Tunku Mona Riza film, besting contenders Nadia Aqilah (Eva), Diana Danielle (Imaginur), Nabila Huda (Rahsia) and Chen Keat Yoke (Hungry Ghost Diner).
Thanking her mentor Othman Hafsham, who cast her in the 1983 movie "Mekanik" for the first time, and then Aziz M. Osman for "Fenomena" where she won her first Best Supporting Actress award, Susan then expressed her gratitude to Tunku Mona for the opportunity to star in "Rain Town".
"My heart is full. Thank you so much to FINAS, members of the jury... to the whole production and everybody. And to all the ladies, congratulations and keep it up," she expressed.
Last week, Susan won Best Actress at the Asian Academy Creative Awards in Singapore for her performance in the same movie.
