Our little red dot is a shopping paradise for fashionistas thanks to the many creative talents that have launched their fashion labels here and taken them to the international skies. While we don't share the same seasons as our European friends do, there are many ways to dress up in the hot and humid climate we currently live with. Think of the latest trends like cut-outs to cropped tops and Y2K outfits.
Here, we've rounded up some of the Singaporean fashion brands that our Yahoo editors love wearing, and you should too!
Charles & Keith
Footwear and accessories brand Charles & Keith was established by brothers Charles and Keith Wong in 1996. This comes after the brothers learned the ropes, having to work with their parents in a shoe shop at Ang Mo Kio. Their first shoe store was opened in Amara Shopping Centre, and by 2013, the company had grown into an international chain with close to 400 outlets.
Today, the label is now worn by international models like Bella and Gigi Hadid, Hailey Bieber, Seohee Park, and girl band Itzy.
Fashion brand Love, Bonito first started out as a blog shop on a social networking site, before branching out as a fashion retailer in 2010. The label was launched by childhood friends Rachel Lim, Velda Tan and Viola Tan. Its first flagship store in Singapore is located at 313@Somerset Mall, which spans 4,603 square feet. After raising funds in a Series B funding round, the brand has concentrated on growing manpower and focusing on technology to expand its business. It also has successfully expanded overseas, with physical stores in Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia.
Founded in 2017, Singapore's sportswear brand Kydra was conceived by university friends Dingyao Wong and Jimmy Poh, who thought of creating the “perfect pair of shorts for every city athlete" inspired by their own experiences as athletes. If you're looking for functional gym and day-to-day activewear, then Kydra is a brand you should take notice of.
Activewear brand Imala was founded by a team of designers, writers, marketers, and content creators in Singapore, who were seeking to create a label that has an affordable price point with a high-quality factor. If you're looking for buttery-soft gymwear/activewear such as leggings, sports bras, sports shorts, bike shorts and more, you've come to the right place.
Established in 2009, Reckless Ericka is a Singapore fashion label co-founded by Afton Chen and Louis Koh for the everyday woman who is seeking functional and fashionable clothes. The brand participated in runway shows and exhibited alongside big names like Vivienne Westwood, Christian Lacroix and Gareth Pugh in Singapore.
Love and Bravery
Co-founder Eunyce Yap, 34, kickstarted the brand Love and Bravery in 2005, during the golden time of emerging fashion blog shops like Love, Bonito and Ohsofickle. The brand opened its first outlet at Tampines 1 in 2010, followed by outlets in Bugis Junction and Jem Mall.
