Stephen Chow unveils "The New King of Comedy" poster
4 Dec – Stephen Chow has recently unveiled the first poster of his new movie, "The New King of Comedy".
As reported on Epoch Times, the poster, which was released on 29 November, features a crayon drawing of a person in a Snow White costume, with one hand holding a folding stool - Stephen's most favourite "weapon".
Rumours of another "King of Comedy" movie sparked as early as October this year, when it was reported that mainland actor Wang Baoqiang will be playing the lead.
It was also reported that Yao Chen will be playing the leading lady, but it was later dismissed by the actress herself.
The first film, starring Stephen himself, was released to a big box office number in 1999. Although it was introduced as a comedy, the movie was a tragic story of an aspiring actor who just couldn't get a break in the industry. It is said to be a commentary from Stephen about his early days as an actor.
It is rumoured that Stephen had been writing the script for the sequel in the last three years and only went into production after finding the right actors.
The upcoming new movie will be released on Lunar New Year 2019.
