Stanley Yau releases song about his late mother
17 May – MIRROR's Stanley Yau recently released his first single of the year, "Never Too Late" as a tribute to his mother, who passed away earlier this year.
As reported on Mingpao, the singer, who spoke about the song recently, stated that he deliberately released the song for Mother's Day to add an extra layer of meaning.
"The concept of the music video was conceived by me and the director. Although it seems simple, it is the hardest thing to touch people's heart," he said.
As for the recording of his mother's voice in the MV, Stanley said that it was suggested by the director, though admitted that it was hard for him emotionally, listening to her voice.
"Mummy didn't know how to use a smart phone when she was alive, so there weren't many recordings of her. But she often thought about me. In that recording, she asked me if I have eaten and then hung up," he said.
Asked if it's hard, seeing that it is his first Mother's Day without his mum, Stanley couldn't help but hold back tears as he said that he was fortunate to still have his family with him.
"If you ask me if I am in a good mood now, I will definitely answer yes, because mummy is dearest to me. I will put this feeling in the box, and I will feel it when I open it," he added.
