Spider-Man confirmed for yet another "Avengers" movie

19 Apr – When it was announced that Peter Parker was swinging into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in "Captain America: Civil War", fans were understandably losing their minds from the excitement and from the potential of our friendly neighbourhood hero getting his own standalone movies.

Marvel delivered and fans got it. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is already one of the most anticipated movies of 2017. And after that, he will appear alongside the Avengers once again in "Avengers: Infinity War" in 2018, with another standalone Spidey sequel coming in 2019.

But now, we know that the "Spiderman: Homecoming" sequel won't be his only appearance that year.

When The Hollywood Reporter sat down recently for a press event with the president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, he revealed this...

Spider-Man is going to appear in "Avengers 4" in 2019 (previously named "Avengers: Infinity War – Part II", the movie will probably be retitled again by 2019).

"Avengers: Infinity War" is Anthony and Joe Russo's epic conclusion of the entire franchise thus far and will be shooting back-to-back with "Avengers 4". Certain characters have been confirmed to appear in both movies and now, we can add Spider-Man to that list.

While this isn't a major reveal and was already somewhat expected, Spidey's presence in "Avengers 4" suggests a strong connection between that movie and the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming 2" is expected to hit theatres on 5 July 2019 in the U.S., which is months after the planned release of "Avengers 4" on 3 May 2019. This could indicate that the events of "Spider-Man: Homecoming 2" will deal with the fall-out of whatever happens in "Avengers 4".

Though, this is a speculation at best since Feige said that he has no concrete plans for Spider-Man beyond that point. "That's as far as it goes for now," he stated.

There is also the possibility that "Spider-Man: Homecoming 2" will be the final appearance for Peter Parker in the MCU, since Sony reportedly plans to end the Disney-Marvel-Sony relationship and take back the character after that movie.

Feige also said that Marvel has no involvement with the Venom and Black Cat/Silver Sable movie Sony was cooking up. "We had a very particular plan about Spidey himself," Feige explained. And while he didn't reveal exactly what those plans were, it sounds like those plans only involved Peter Parker's Spider-Man and not any other character's variation of Spider-Man.

Spider-Man's immediate future in the MCU seems rife with classic bad-guy butt-kicking in New York coming this 6 July and cosmic adventures with the Avengers on 3 May 2018.

But where he goes after, in "Avengers 4" and Spider-Man: Homecoming 2", is still unknown.
