'Soul boy gone too soon': Stars pay tribute to Khalil Fong
3 Mar - The news of Khalil Fong's death did not only shocked fans but also the entertainment world, as many took to social media to mourn the loss.
Fiona Sit, who was Khalil's last known rumoured girlfriend, didn't write a tribute but changed all her cover and profile pictures on all her social media accounts to mourn the singer's passing. The photo used now is from one of Khalil's illustrated books, "Emi the Dream Catcher".
Hong Kong singer GEM shared several photos of her performing with Khalil, writing, "Until now, I still haven't truly processed it. When I met you, I was still a little kid... So many memories are coming to mind... I hope you're doing well on the other side of the world."
JJ Lin also expressed shock, saying that he still doesn't want to believe that the singer is gone.
"Soul boy, gone too soon. You will be deeply missed. See you on the other side dear friend," he added.
Cyndi Wang posted a photo of the sky, and wrote, "Today's weather is as beautiful as when we first met ten years ago. The angel has returned to heaven and will continue to pursue his unique musical dream."
Wang Leehom posted a long message on Instagram, writing, "The passing of Khalil Fong today has caused the world to lose a special light. Today, he left, but his light will not go out. Rest in peace, Khalil Fong, and may his music live on forever."
Khalil's studio confirmed news of his passing on 1 March, saying that he actually passed away on 21 February from an unspecified illness, saying, "With unwavering optimism in the face of a relentless illness for five years, Khalil Fong gently and gracefully bid farewell to this world on the morning of 21 February 2025, stepping into the next realm of existence to carry forward his purpose and dreams."
The news came seven months after he announced his return to music with a new album.
He was 41.
