Is This Snakeskin Edition of Nike’s Newest Air Max Sneaker the Best One Yet?
In little over a month, Nike’s newest Air Max sneaker has already taken on quite a number of different looks. Subtly different material configurations for its upper and a variety of colorways have made the Nike Air Max Dn8‘s short life prolific, but none of them have been anything like the newest to emerge.
The Nike Air Max Dn8 “Snakeskin” marks a hard pivot for the silhouette, as its namesake print takes over the sneaker almost in its entirety. Rather than spliting the upper into two distinct parts with its wavy insets, a grey serpentine print is used for both regions as the surface is flattened. The signature lines can only be faintly made out as they’re essentially taped on, and the snakeskin continues is reach to he eyestay, tongue and even the midsole.

Doubling its use of Dynamic Air units that premiered on the Air Max Dn last year, the Air Max Dn8 offers full-length cushioning and better transitioning through eight total tubes underfoot. The front and back two tubes, each of which form a single unit, are pressurized at 15 psi (pounds per square inch). A lower pressure of 5 psi tunes the inner four tubes, or two units. With each step, air is allowed to move freely within each of the four total units.
“For the Dn8, we wanted to be lower to the ground. We wanted to feel more Air. We wanted to improve transition,” Jonathan Kosenick, Nike Men’s Sportswear lead designer, said in a release upon the shoe’s announcement. “All of those goals led us to design the shoe with eight Air chambers directly in contact with the ground, which allows the chambers to more effectively compress and be way more flexible, delivering a much bouncier, springier sensation that channels a Nike performance footwear approach into a shoe you want to wear every day.”
The Nike Air Max Dn8 “Snakeskin” will release March 26 through Nike’s website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $190.
