Siti Nurhaliza is now Biduanita Negara

14 Nov - After much deliberation, Dato' Sri Siti Nurhaliza has been finally confirmed and honoured with the title of Biduanita Negara (National Songstress) in conjunction with the 2024 National Art Awards organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

The singer is now the third female singer to be honoured with the title, following the late Saloma in 1978 and Sharifah Aini in 2006.

Sharing her happiness and gratitude for the honour, Siti released a statement that read, "From the sincerest part of my heart, I see this award as not just a recognition of my career achievements, but also a recognition of all artistes who fight for the beauty of our culture and music."

"This trust and belief that have been granted is a responsibility to me personally to continue to uphold the arts and culture especially in music, in order to continue to achieve excellence," she added.

She also expressed in her caption, "Alhamdulillah. With full humility, I am grateful to God Almighty for what He has lent me all this time. Thank you to everyone who saw my ups and downs and supported my career in any situation. Thank you."
