Sire Ma: I chose to suspend my acting career!

11 Sep – Former TVB actress Sire Ma recently took to social media to clarify herself, after finding out several articles online were being untruthful about her decision to retire from showbiz.

As reported on SkyPost, the former actress who tied the knot in January 2019 and welcomed her first child Camellia in the US in June the same year, shared on Weibo that she felt uncomfortable when friends read untrue things about her.

Sire stated that the article listed several actors that it described as being 'desperate' in the attempt to be popular. It claimed that Sire was very arrogant in the beginning of her career, encountered some setbacks and later returned to mainland China to get married and settle down after finding out that her career has finished.

Said the actress, "It was my choice to suspend my career since I wanted to be a mother. I didn't want to miss the first three years of my child's life just to earn money for my own gains, because those three years are very important. But at the same time, I didn't want to have nothing to do at home, so I decided to vlog."

Sire also revealed that she used to care too much about what others think of her, but has now learned not to compare herself to people.

"People can think you're good or bad, but as long as you know who you are, you don't need to compare with others," she added.

Sire joined TVB in 2008 after winning third runner-up in the Miss Hong Kong pageant the same year, and had starred in several drams including, "Forensic Heroes III" and "Bullet Brain". However, she made headlines in 2013 for a same-sex affair that reportedly cost her career. She ended her contract with TVB in 2015 and moved her career to mainland China, before deciding to take a hiatus in 2019 to focus on family life.
