SINGAPORE – Following three sold-out shows in Taipei and Kaohsiung Arena, Mandopop singer-songwriter Eric Chou will be performing in Singapore over two days on 13 and 14 Dec for his “How Have You Been” 2019 Asia Tour.

The 24-year-old crooner was here in Singapore two weeks ahead of his concert to hold a fan meeting and ticket autograph session at Gain City’s Sungei Kadut Megastore on 30 Nov. He was last here for his 22PLUS 2018 Asia Tour.

His Singapore concert was originally slated to be held only on 14 Dec, but tickets were sold out very quickly and another show for 13 Dec was added. If you missed out on getting tickets to his 14 Dec concert, you can now have a second go at watching him perform on 13 Dec.

Fans can also anticipate the same scene of him playing the piano in a box suspended in mid-air, reenacted from his Kaohsiung Arena show. Chou will also be performing new songs and showing off dance moves at his concert.

In 2014, at the age of 19, Eric Chou debuted with his self-composed album My Way to Love. With his song-writing skills and vocals, he began to receive huge attention and eventually gained a hundred million YouTube views and accolades for his title track Let’s Not Be Friends in the Future. In 2016, he released his second album What Love Has Taught Us with the hit song How Have You Been? and became the third singer apart from Jay Chou and JJ Lin to attain record-breaking views for both of his title tracks. His third album The Chaos After You was released in 2017 with the title song bearing the same name as his album. He also released his first EP, Freedom, earlier this year.

At the fan meeting, he performed his latest singles Forever Beautiful and Something about LA, as well as the chart-topping hits How Have You Been? and Let’s Not Be Friends in The Future.

“Composing my own songs is very important and being a singer-songwriter, producing new songs and to create a breakthrough for each production is very important,” said Chou, speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore at Intercontinental Hotel a couple of hours before the event.

For the soothing Forever Beautiful, which was written for a breast cancer campaign, he wanted to create a song that is warm and encouraging for breast cancer victims. The EDM-centric and head-bopping Something about LA was put together after his holiday in Los Angeles – he was just sitting on his sofa at home, reminiscing about his trip, and decided to come up with the song.

Fans are highly anticipating the release of his fourth album which Eric promised is very “heartfelt”, has “EDM, R&B and hip-hop” and will be out before the year closes.

“If you have heard my first three albums before hearing my upcoming album, you will feel like Eric has grown up,” he said when asked what will be different about his new album.

What are Eric Chou’s 2020 resolutions?

“Hopefully, it (his fourth album) will blow up and set new records,” Chou laughed.

“I also hope I can build up my body,” he added.

Can we expect topless pictures of him soon? Fans may remember that he last posted a photo of himself topless (but wearing an apron), at the stove with the caption “It’s getting a bit warm grilling steak”, sending fans in a frenzy and garnering 189,000 likes.
