Si Chuan Dou Hua launches Seafood Summer menu, and a special hotpot set

Personally, I've never had a bad meal at Si Chuan Dou Hua, and I've been there ample times as a paying customer for birthday celebrations, anniversaries, Chinese New Year reunion dinners and farewells. So, when Si Chuan Dou Hua at Parkroyal on Beach Road invited Yahoo Singapore to taste their new Summer Seafood menu and the Majestic Hot Pot, I knew I had to add that to my repertoire of Si Chuan Dou Hua meals.

There's always something new in Si Chuan Dou Hua, from seasonal menus and dim sum to my absolute favourite: an à la carte buffet of 100 dishes in 25 Sichuan flavours. I asked about it, and unfortunately, there are no plans to bring it back yet.

But, this article is not about that; instead, it will be about the delicious, decadent, Seafood Summer menus and the newly launched Majestic Hot Pot set.

Seafood Summer

Seafood Summer is a seasonal offering featuring decadent seafood dishes for seafood lovers. Expect baby lobsters, bamboo clams, king garoupa and more from the four pax menu at S$298; Soon Hock, oysters, Chinese lobsters and more from the six pax menu at S$588; and for the full works – abalone included – at S$888 for eight persons.

Portions were generous, and the dishes that impressed were the Sichuan Six Delicacies, Sautéed Chinese Lobster in Beer Garlic Sauce and Steamed Japanese Fresh Oyster with Preserved Minced Chilli. If I had one gripe: the Hot and Sour soup was too peppery, and quite different from what one might be used to from other SCDH outlets in Singapore. End the meal with Wagyu Beef-shaped Strawberry Ice Cream, which looks like a beautiful gimmick until one takes a bite: the ice cream is light and sweet, then made umami with avocado and gula melaka. Sublime indeed.

Majestic Hot Pot

The latest addition to the menu is the Majestic Hot Pot, their signature Sichuan-style Mala Butter Hotpot crafted by Master Chef, Dave Lai. Dave is clearly passionate about Sichuanese food, and he proclaimed several times that the soup bases (Signature Sichuan Mala Butter, Double-boiled King Garoupa Bones or Double-boiled Imperial Fish Maw Collagen), were all freshly concocted and not taken from "factory packs" like many hotpot restaurants in Singapore.

The pride shows in his broth, a simmering and flavourful pot accompanied by a seafood platter, meat platter, a basket of fresh greens and mushrooms, homemade dipping sauce and dessert. For the price, you'll also be expecting Australian Wagyu beef, lobster, eight-head abalone, scallops on shell, lamb slices, fresh fish maw and more.

Ingredients are locally sourced and delivered daily, so make reservations at least one day in advance.

The Majestic Hot Pot experience is available for S$98++ per person (minimum 2 persons, one-day advance reservation) daily for lunch and dinner, till the end of 2023.
