Shinhwa's Lee Minwoo accused of sexual harassment

SINGAPORE — Lee Minwoo, of popular group Shinhwa is now embroiled in scandal; news outlet Dong-A Ilbo reported that the singer was booked by the authorities on suspicion of sexual harassment of two women, including kissing by force.

The police stated in their report that Minwoo is suspected of committing indecent assault on two women in their 20s, at a bar in the district of Gangnam. One of the women went to a local police at 6.44am of 29 June and made a police report that she had been sexually harassed. She was quoted as saying: “I went to a drinking party and was severely sexually harassed.” She added, “Lee grabbed on to both my cheeks and kissed me by force. He also touched certain parts of my body.”

His agency, Liveworks Company released a statement about the singer's sexual harassment investigation.

Today (3 July), the agency announced, "We are sorry for the news about our singer Lee Minwoo and want to apologize to all those who were disappointed and shocked by such news."

The agency further stated: "There was a small misunderstanding at the drinking party caused by Lee Minwoo mistaking the victim for another person. The issue was resolved through dialogue and the case dropped.

However, Lee Minwoo is embarrassed by the fact something like that happened and is sincerely sorry and deeply reflecting on his actions."

Minwoo has yet to be questioned by the police.
