Sherie Merlis denies dating Hasnul Rahmat
8 Jan - Sherie Merlis has denied rumors that she is dating Hasnul Rahmat, a claim she has been refuting since 2023.
The 53-year-old actress, real name Sharifah Saadah Wan Zainal Kassim, stated that the two of them are good friends and that Hasnul is one of the few who knew her well.
"It's hard to find friends when you are an actor. You might be close to someone, but you can only go out and have a drink together so many times before you have to start working on projects that sometimes take a month or two," she said.
Sherie said that she thinks of Hasnul as a good friend and that they are supportive of one another. She also said that they understand each other very well despite not being able to see each other most of the time.
"We have been friends even before I got married. We remain friends even after he got married and then divorced. I appreciate anybody who is willing to be friends with me," she added.
Sherie was previously married to actor Esma Daniel, of whom she has two children with. She later tied the knot with music producer Tengku Shafiz-Rullah Tengku Mohd Shahid in 2012, but the marriage ended in 2023. The two are parents to two children.
