Sandrine Pinna enjoys working with Chen Kaige
31 Dec – French-Chinese actress Sandrine Pinna recently expressed happiness with the opportunity she had working with director Chen Kaige in his new movie, "Legend of the Demon Cat".
As reported on Oriental Daily, the actress, who plays the role of Tang Dynasty's most famous concubine Lady Yang in the movie, shared that she learned a lot from working with Chen, whom she described as being "very strict and demanding".
"He was so strict that every shot and expression were particularly detailed, based on what he wanted," she said.
When asked what Chen wanted for the role, Sandrine shared, "He wanted Lady Yang to be elegant and mysterious, although at the same time, she also has to face emotional turbulence inside."
The movie also marks Sandrine's first ever attempt at a period fantasy film.
On the other hand, Chen admitted that it was a risky choice to cast Sandrine in the role, but that he was happy with the actress' overall performance.
