26 Aug – Although there is a new wave of emigration happening in Hong Kong right now, Sammy Leung stated that it has never been in his plan to follow the footsteps of others and leave the city that he loves.
As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who is known for his criticism of the current political climate in Hong Kong, stated that it is hard to see Hong Kong citizens leaving the country because of how disappointed they are with the current situation.
"How can a person be so disappointed? I suspect that the people who choose to leave are the people who care about Hong Kong the most, and that they are in pain [over what is happening]," he said.
As to why he chooses to stay, Sammy stated that not only is he used to the life he has in Hong Kong, he also has to take care of his elderly parents.
"But if my children choose to leave in the future, if they study in a foreign country and decide not to return after graduation, I will not influence their decision. By then, they will have enough ability to decide their own path, just like they have their own understanding of politics," he said.
