Sammi Cheng wins Most Favourite Female Singer again after 24 years
3 Jan - Sammi Cheng has recently been honoured with an award at the 2024 Ultimate Song Chart Awards, the first after 24 years.
As reported on Mingpao, the singer, who appeared at the presentation event held on 1 January, accepted the trophy for My Favourite Female Singer category, and performed her song, "We Grew This Way".
Speaking about the award, she said, "It was very meaningful to me to win this award again after 24 years. Thank you."
She also revealed that the clothes she wore at the awards were the same ones that she wore when she accepted "My Favourite Female Singer" the last time, and that she has always kept them.
Sammi then admitted that she had doubted whether she should be attending the awards ceremony as it has been two decades since she participated in it.
"I didn't know whether it would be embarrassing or out of place," she admitted. "But there is another voice telling me that if I think this way, I really underestimate the power of music and the essence of music. The existence of music itself is that people have more. Good communication and music itself are the best language to break down the barriers, so I decided that I will calmly stand on this stage today to accept the honour you have given me."
She also has an advice for the younger generation of singers, saying, "No matter what situation you are in now, no matter the good or the bad, continue to carry this persistence, what you believe in will take you very far, and even fly very high."
