Sammi Cheng snubbed again at the HKFA

8 May – Despite her two nominations, Sammi Cheng found herself losing another chance to win Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards, as it went to "Better Days" actress Zhou Dongyu instead.

As reported on Mingpao, while some rejoiced over the mainland actress winning the award for her performance in the Derek Tsang movie, others expressed their frustration over Sammi's loss, especially since the actress has been snubbed yet again.

It is noted that Sammi was nominated for two movies for this year's HKFA Best Actress category, one for "Fagara" and the other for "Fatal Visit". Aside from Sammi, the other nominees are Cecilia Choi and Stephy Tang.

On the other hand, Zhou was elated to win Best Actress for the second time, saying that she really enjoyed working on the set of "Better Days".

"I want to thank everybody who have supported me. Thank you, everyone!" she added.

This is Zhou's second film with director Derek Tsang, whose previous film, "Soul Mate" also enabled her to win multiple awards in 2017.
