Sabri Yunus considers himself a "young" filmmaker

5 Dec - Despite being nominated in the Best Director category at the upcoming 33rd Malaysian Film Festival (FFM33), Sabri Yunus is humbly calling himself new when it comes to filmmaking.

The 63-year-old director, who is nominated for "Duan Nago Bogho", said that he is still "young" when it comes to directing, even though his age has surpassed the definition of young.

"But I am still thankful that I was nominated among the many. To be a part of this list is already an achievement to me," he said.

Sabri said that there are many young filmmakers of today who are skilled and have their own stories to tell.

"I want them to know that the creative process comes with many challenges and obstacles. But that every experience is a valuable lesson that will further strengthen their mentality," he added.

Sabri will be competing against Nizam Razak ("Mechamato"), Syafiq Yusof ("Sheriff: Narko Integriti"), Nik Amir Mustapha ("Imaginur") and Tunku Mona Riza ("Rain Town") at the event to be held on 7 December.
