"Ruyi" producer to remake "Legend of Zhen Huan"?
15 Oct – It has only been eight years since "Empresses in the Palace" (also known as "The Legend of Zhen Huan") aired on television, but rumours are rife that a series revolving around similar character is currently in the works.
As reported on HK01, the drama which reportedly will be produced by the studio that brought "Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace", will be titled "Xifei's Royal Love in the Palace", and will revolve around the life of Lady Niohuru/Consort Xi - known to fans of the 2011 drama as Zhen Huan.
Production will reportedly start in November.
Although the cast is yet to be announced, sources are saying that actor Wallace Chung will be playing the role of Yongzheng Emperor, which was previously portrayed by Chen Jianbin.
It is also rumoured that the studio is trying to get stars like Cecilia Liu, Li Qin, and Jiang Xin to star in the drama.
Netizens are having a mixed reaction about the reported project. Some argued that actress Betty Sun Li had done a great job playing Zhen Huan in the 2011 drama and that it is inevitable for any actress playing the upcoming character to be compared to her.
