Rob Lowe’s New Game Show ‘The Floor’ Gets Premiere Date At Fox

Fox has set an early 2024 premiere date for its new game show The Floor, hosted and produced by Rob Lowe. The Floor, from Big Brother and The Voice creator John de Mol, will launch Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 9 PM on Fox.

The Floor is a physical, trivia quiz show that sees 81 contestants face off in quiz duels on a giant LED floor divided into a hundred equal squares, each representing its own field of knowledge.

The first challenger, selected at random, must choose one of his or her neighboring opponents to go head-to-head in an epic quiz duel in the opponent’s category. The winner takes over the loser’s square, gaining valuable ground as they expand their territory, while the loser exits the game. The winner must then choose – do they continue on and attempt to secure another square? Or do they let The Floor choose a new challenger? The last contestant standing who gains full control over The Floor takes home a life-changing $250,000 cash prize.

The Floor is produced by Eureka Productions, Talpa and BiggerStage. John de Mol, Mark van Achterberg, Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Eden Gaha, Wes Dening, Sean O’Riordan and Shane Byrneserve as executive producers.  Anthony Carbone serves as showrunner, and Rob Lowe is producer. Talpa is the creator and owner of The Floor format, which has been sold in six countries, making the U.S. the seventh market.

The Floor marks Lowe’s latest unscripted series for the network – he hosted two seasons of Mental Samurai between 2019 and 2022.  He currently stars in and produces Fox’s highly rated 911: Lone Star, which has been renewed for Season 5.
