There is a common misconception that we don’t need to wear sunscreen indoors, but if you’re working from home, in a room with lots of sunlight or beside a window, you’ll need to take note.
While most of us might skip on installing filters on windows, you should know that most of the standard glass windows only block UVB but not UVA rays, which can penetrate deeper into our skin. The UVA rays contribute to skin aging, such as dark spots and wrinkles.
There are two types of UV-blocking ingredients that are safe for your skin, and they are zinc oxide and titanium oxide.
According to BBC, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) - one of the two main global regulators of sunscreen ingredients around the world alongside the European Commission – removed 14 of the 16 chemicals found in sunscreens from its GRASE (generally accepted as safe and effective) category.
So it’s even more important for us today, to take note of what ingredients are there in your beauty products. Luckily for you and me, Supergoop! Zincscreen SPF 40 100 Percent Mineral Lotion contains one of the safe ingredients approved, which is 13% of zinc oxide.
I was curious to see what was the coverage and texture like, so let’s get down to business.
For my first pump, I was surprised to see how watery the texture can be, and almost splattered some on my shirt. I used up to three pumps for a full coverage over my face.
Upon first look, there’s a sort of pinkish natural tint, but when I apply it on my skin, it leaves a lighter shade than my skin tone and a glowy look.
I took off to a nearby park for a quick run and came back drenched in sweat but the sunscreen provided a good coverage.
24 hours later, I did not suffer from any allergies, especially eczema, so this product is a win for me already. I would definitely recommend it for use even indoors, as it contains blueberry extract to help protect against blue light from your laptop screen.
