SINGAPORE – Let me just start off by saying – what a name. Isn’t Tarte Cosmetics essentially a make-up line? To be honest, I had my reservations when I tried the Tarte Baba Bomb Moisturizer initially.

First of all, the packaging really sucks you in. It is bright, tropical and oh-so-summery.

This is a vegan moisturiser, which means it is certified cruelty-free and uses plant-based ingredients Babassu, avocado, green tea and plant collagen.

But can I say that the packaging is not sustainable at all? There is too much plastic in the packaging. If you try to take it apart, there are four separate pieces. The product itself is only in the palm-designed container.

The moisturiser has a whipped texture but I have to say that it seems to be a bit more geared towards those with normal-dry skin. It is ultra-hydrating, and as I have oily skin, it seems a tad too heavy for my liking and I would suggest it to be more of a night-time use than a daytime one. I have also tried using it as a hand or foot lotion and I think that works better. The Baba Bomb Moisturizer gives off a radiant finish and does take a minute or two to fully absorb.

The other issue with this moisturiser is for those with acne-prone skin. The Baba Bomb Moisturizer has several ingredients which are known to be comedogenic ingredients, such as: butylene glycol, olive oil, palmatic acid, stearic acid, avocado oil, sorbitan oleate, and myristic acid. If you are prone to breakouts I would be careful with this moisturiser and keep an eye out for potential issues.

So for this, I will say that it works for some skin types only!
