REVIEW: I watched 'Limitless' for Chris Hemsworth, and stayed for the science
Watch Limitless with Chris Hemsworth to learn how to live better for longer.
I was so inspired to live better by the 'Limitless' series, starring Avengers star Chris Hemsworth and now showing on Disney+, that I decided, unprompted by any brand or my editor, to write this article.
For the uninitiated, Limitless with Chris Hemsworth is the titular actor's first foray into a documentary – specifically one that aims to explore the different ways humans can live better for longer. The season is split into six episodes and sees Chris Hemsworth taking on physical challenges such as swimming in Arctic conditions or dangling off a rope and platforms from high places.
And it's not all for fun. Flanked by medical experts – such as Peter Attia, known for studying longevity, and Ross Edgley, an extreme adventurer, ultra-marathon sea swimmer and author, the show explores six methods people can adopt to live a healthier and more meaningful life.
The experts are not your run-of-the-mill types either. Ross Edgley holds multiple world records, but is best known for completing the World's Longest Staged Sea Swim in 2018 when he became the first person in history to swim 2,860 km around Great Britain in 157 days.
Dr Peter Attia received his medical degree from the Stanford University School of Medicine and trained in general surgery for five years at John Hopkins Hospital. There are also plenty of other experts, from Olympic athletes to an 80-year-old fitness trainer, who also shared their perspectives in the series.

For the record, I started watching the show because I'm a hot-blooded woman and there are plenty of shots of topless Chris Hemsworth – yes I've said it – but beyond that, the idea of living healthier for longer struck close to home.
Recently, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer, the most common cancer that affects women in Singapore. It sent my family into a tailspin and forced us to face mortality – that of our loved ones and our own. Apart from developing a routine between the oncologist and regular hospital visits, we started revisiting our actions over the past few years. What if we ate this less, what if we exercised more, what if we start on this supplement now?
I'm not about to thrust myself into extreme sports and tests amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars to find out how to improve my health and keep diseases at bay. But while watching the show, I came away with plenty of easy takeaways that I can incorporate into my and my loved ones' lives.
The 6-episode list gives some clues to the takeaways: Stress-Proof, Shock, Fasting, Strength, Memory and Acceptance. Halfway through the first episode, I realised the immense benefits of learning from these experts, and therein lies my utmost recommendation to watch the series, because I cannot turn this article into a science textbook.

One more thing, a quick research into Peter Attia led me to a list of supplements he has mentioned or taken consistently himself. What better way to live longer than to follow the supplement list of a longevity doctor? As usual, everyone is different, and their health needs are different, but the top three supplements that keep coming up are these:
