Reebok Is Finally Releasing the Basketball Shoe Angel Reese Debuted in 2024

Angel Reese debuted the Reebok Engine A last WNBA season, the athletic brand’s first performance basketball shoe release since the early 2010s. Next month, Reebok will finally release the sneaker to the public.

“The launch of the Reebok Engine A is a monumental moment for the brand as we reclaim our stance on the court and within basketball culture,” Reebok chief executive officer Todd Krinsky said in a statement. “The Engine A embodies all the Reebok stands for: top performance innovation, fearless risk-taking design and a continued commitment to deliver the best product possible to the athletes who are changing the game.”

The court-ready shoe, Reebok explained, is both durable and lightweight, and was designed “for the game that moves in every direction.” What’s more, its look was inspired by the brand’s Mobius line from the 1990s.

In terms of tech, the highlight of the Engine A are its Energy Return System (ERSTM) midsoles, which are made from a lightweight EVA material to offer the wearer both stability and flexibility. Also, Reebok added nitrogen-infused SuperFloat foam in the heel and forefoot to absorb impact and provide energy return.

The shoe is also built with high-abrasion rubber outsoles with multidirectional herringbone traction pattern design for grip , as well as molded exoskeleton uppers that are lightweight, secure and breathable, and provide the wearer with a dynamic fit. What’s more, the exoskeleton design, Reebok explained, enables “bold color blocking” and pays homage to the brand’s “hoops heritage.”

The Reebok Engine A arrives Feb. 13 in a silver colorway globally via Reebok.com. The shoe will retail for $120. Reebok confirmed additional colorways will release throughout the season.

To showcase the Engine A, Reebok will reveal a global marketing campaign featuring its growing basketball roster, dubbed Team RBK.B. The roster includes talent at the high school, college and professional level, including Reese, Matas Buzelis of the Chicago Bulls, consensus 5-star high school hooper Nate Ament and others. Reebok stated is expected to add players to its basketball roster in the coming weeks.
