Raymond Wong reveals reasons for not making CNY movies

4 Nov - While he used to be one of the kings of Lunar New Year comedies, actor-producer Raymond Wong recently stated that he has no plans to produce or helm another CNY movie in the near future.

As reported on Epoch Times, the veteran star, who was seen at an event in Tsim Sha Tsui late last month, said that it has been a while since he came out with a CNY-themed film despite earning lots of profits for his "All's Well, Ends Well" film series.

Asked why he decided not to do so, he said, "Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. It's not necessary to make such movies every year."

Raymond also admitted that making a comedy film is no easy feat, and that it is hard to find young comedy actors in recent years.

"I hope that there are more young actors who can do comedies," he added.

Raymond's comments seemed to echo Sammo Hung's previous statement, where the action star admitted that the decline of Hong Kong action flicks was due to the lack of actors that can be considered action stars.
