Qantas Has U.S.-to-Australia Flights On Sale Right Now — Here's When to Book By

The sale ends on Nov. 6.

Australian airline Qantas is making it easier — and cheaper — to go down under with a flight sale that has tickets starting at under $1,000.

The sale, which must be booked by 11.59 p.m PT on Nov. 6, is available for travel throughout 2023 and 2024, the airline shared with Travel + Leisure. The sale comes as Qantas is increasing the frequency of its flights from both Los Angeles to Melbourne and from New York to Sydney with a stopover in Auckland, a route the airline re-launched earlier this year.

Fly from Los Angeles to Sydney or Melbourne starting at just $999 round trip, or fly from San Francisco to Sydney for the same price. For just $1,349, travelers can fly from New York to Sydney (with the stop in Auckland), or fly from Dallas to Sydney starting at just $1,399.

The sale requires a minimum stay of 14 days. The exact travel dates and blackout dates vary by destination.

Travelers who want a bit more room can take advantage of Qantas’ “neighbor-free” seating option, which the airline just expanded on flights across the United States. The program was first introduced on domestic flights in September as a trial, and now costs as little as $143 to upgrade on international flights.

The upgrade program is not guaranteed and will only be available on flights that aren’t full.

In 2025, Qantas plans to launch the longest flights in the world known as "Project Sunrise” with flights from Sydney to New York and London. The flights will be flown on an Airbus A350 aircraft and include six first class suites, 52 business class suites, 40 premium economy seats, and 140 economy seats.

Earlier this year, the airline was named the safest in the world, regaining its top spot after it was temporarily downgraded to No. 2 last year.
