Purify the air in your home with these indoor plants

We’re all victims to the pollution that engulfs our cities today - which is sadly, in one way or another, our own doing. While we may be able to limit further damage to the air outside our homes by targeting less carbon emission and other measures, we cannot completely change the damage done to air outside. The air inside our homes, however, is something we can try and manage a tad, by some simple practices like keeping indoor plants which purify the air around us.

Here are some plants which will give you a breath of fresh air!

Spider Plant

This plant is one of the easiest to care for. It thrives in indirect sunlight and occasional watering. One can accentuate the curved leaves by handing it in a beautiful planter.Voila… home decor!

Chinese Evergreen

If you’re the type that often forgets to water your plants - then this is the ideal indoor plant for you. All you need to do is water this plant once in a while to keep the soil moist. No real routine.

English Ivy

Place this English Ivy in a large pot, giving it ample room to grow. You could also train it around a sculptural form or support to create a topiary. Give it about four hours of sunlight and watch it thrive.

Golden Pothos

One key to a healthy Golden Pothos, is never allowing the soil to get water-logged. This plant too needs bright, but indirect sunlight and watering once in a while. Give it structure in a beautiful terra cotta pot and you have yourself a beauty!

Chrysanthemum

Watch out if you have water shortages in your home - the Chrysanthemum needs regular watering to thrive. Not suitable for excessively humid atmospheres, this plant needs good air circulation too. One important tip would be to water under the leaves to prevent fungal issues when placing the plant in a container.

Aloe Vera

The Aloe Vera plant is a must-have in most homes. It looks pretty when placed in a nice pot and has so many health benefits for our well-being and skin. This plant should be kept on a window sill or balcony as it loves the sun and can do with watering once a week.

Snake Plant

The Snake Plant is ideal for your living room. It thrives in indirect light with waterings only when the soil has fully dried.

Peace Lilly

The Peace Lilly too is a lovely plant to place in your living room or even kitchen top. The plant requires low light and only needs to be watered when the top of the soil is dry. Create a beautiful contrast of style by placing this organic looking plant in a modern vase.

Gerbera Daisy

Gerbera daisies are easy on the eyes with their beautiful coloured flowers in shades of pink, red, yellow, orange, and lavender. This plant is also called Gerber daisies or Gerberas. They’re great for indoor growing and can add cheer among all your other green houseplants.

Rhapis Palm

The Rhapis Palm needs to be placed out of direct sunlight near an east-facing window. They do well in indoor temperatures between 15 to 27 C. Water the palm when the soil is dry.
