Phil Chang takes indefinite hiatus from work

3 Jul – Taiwanese singer-songwriter Phil Chang recently surprised many when he announced that he will be taking an indefinite hiatus from work.

As reported on Epoch Times, the 51-year-old singer announced the news on Weibo at the end of June, writing that he is taking his first long break since joining showbiz in the early '90s.

"I'm tired. I don't have enough energy. I hope that you all can understand," he added.

Phil has recently been expanding his career in mainland China, following his participation in season 2 of the hit Hunan TV show, "I Am A Singer", where he won sixth place.

On the other hand, when a fan asked if he is retiring from showbiz, Phil said that that's not his intention, though used the Chinese idiom that he is already "flying on a crane to the Western Paradise" to say that he has nearly worked himself to death.

Phil's rep had since responded to queries about the singer's announcement, saying that Phil has cleared his schedule and will be taking a rest. However, he is unsure of how long it would be.
