SINGAPORE — Singapore’s wildlife attractions are open again but you might understandably not wish to, or be able to, bring your whole family to the zoos with the current COVID-19 safety restrictions. If you really still want to get up close and personal with the critters, though, fret not! Wildlife Reserves has new promotions that allow you to virtually interact with their animals.

These promotions are part of the domestic tourism campaign, SingapoRediscovers, launched yesterday (22 July) to encourage local tourism and support local businesses.

During the circuit breaker lockdown, Wildlife Reserves previously rolled out live interactive video sessions where customers could view animals close-up and ask zookeepers any questions they liked. Now, the company is also offering personalised messages featuring its animals, and exclusive backstage sessions with its Asian elephants.

Personalised messages

You can choose from a list of animals to be featured in a one-minute long personalised video message for your friend or family. These animals include Amigo the yellow-naped Amazon parrot (who can even sing you a birthday song!); Ben and Bella, the African penguins; Moe the capybara; Sally the oriental pied hornbill; and Jaya the palm cockatoo. Videos from these animals cost S$50 each, except for the singing parrot, whose videos cost S$80 each.

Group interactive sessions

You can sign up for a video meet-up with an animal group of your choice and get a glimpse into their routines and enrichment activities. Each group session costs from S$50 to S$250. Choose from the following animal families:

• Capybara and Great White Pelican (River Safari)

• African Penguins (Singapore Zoo)

• Oriental Pied Hornbill and White Cockatoo (Jurong Bird Park)

• Double Yellow-Headed Amazon, Scarlet Macaw, and Toco Toucan (Jurong Bird Park)

• Great Horned Owl, Asian Small-clawed Otters and White Raccoon (Night Safari)

Backstage Pass with Elephants of Asia

This experience offers a private 30-minute virtual session with the gentle giants from the Elephants of Asia exhibit, in which you can take part in their enrichment activities. Their animal care team will share inside stories about the all-female herd and how they are cared for. A session costs S$250.

From 22 to 31 July, get 50% off with the promo code HELLOGS50.
