Pakho Chau delisted from music festival for voting reminder

8 Jul – It was recently reported that Pakho Chau has been booted off an upcoming music festival for supposedly going against the Chinese government.

As reported on Epoch Times, the issue sparked earlier this month, when the singer went online to share the link to the Hong Kong government's voting registration website and remind everybody to register as voters.

The move sparked doubts among mainland netizens, who accused Pakho of supporting Hong Kong independence. Many have also sworn to boycott his music and films because of it.

To make matters worse, Pakho, who was scheduled to attend a music festival in Chongqing on 13 July, suddenly found his name has "disappeared" from the list of artistes headlining the festival.

Pakho had since confirmed his delisting from the festival upon being enquired by a fan, saying, "The opportunity is not there this time. I hope to see you all next time."

Fans of the singer have expressed ire over the issue, saying that Pakho was only doing his civic duty by reminding his fans to vote, and that it has nothing to do with the Hong Kong Independence movement.
