Remember when Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore broke the news that HBO is filming season three of Westworld in Singapore? Well, we’ve now learnt that one of the locations the crew is shooting in is Robinson Road.

The critically acclaimed sci-fi drama series is filming scenes at locations in Singapore from next Monday onwards (1 July to 9 July).

Road closure signs placed along Anson Road indicate that a production called Monty’s Last Stand is filming along Robinson Road, between Maxwell Road and Boon Tat Street, next Sunday (7 July) from 6am to 2pm.

A leaked call sheet for Westworld revealed that its third season’s production code name is Monty’s Last Stand.

It makes sense that the production chose to film in the Central Business District area on a Sunday, when it would be relatively quiet and there isn’t much traffic.

A local casting call for Westworld posted by Fly Entertainment agency on 1 June was looking for actors in Singapore to act opposite lead characters in Westworld.

The cast of Westworld, which counts Hollywood stars among their names, includes Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, James Marsden, Tessa Thompson and Jeffrey Wright. Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) will join the cast in season three.

Westworld is about human-like androids in an amusement park called “hosts”, who play out fantasy roles for customers seeking escapist experiences. The machines rebel against their creators after some of them gain consciousness. The series, created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, has been lauded as a chilling meditation on the ramifications of artificial intelligence. Season 1 of the show aired in 2016, and season 2 aired last year.

HBO released a trailer last month for Westworld’s third season, in which part of Singapore’s skyline appears halfway through the trailer. Season 3, which will air in 2020, will see more action outside of the Westworld park, in the real world.

The show is arguably HBO's biggest-budget series after Game of Thrones recently ended its run, with season 1 of Westworld reportedly costing US$100 million.

Singapore was also recently featured as a setting in the global film phenomenon Crazy Rich Asians. The Detective Conan anime film, The Fist of Blue Sapphire, also showcases Singapore as a backdrop.

If you’re a fan of Evan Rachel Wood or any of Westworld’s stars, you might want to hop down to Robinson Road next Sunday and perhaps catch a glimpse of the actors!
