OG seafood soup stall, Yan Ji Seafood Soup ceases operation in Bedok

Famous seafood soup stall, Yan Ji Seafood Soup had only opened their Bedok outlet in 2022. However, as of 23 May 2023 they have announced their abrupt closure.

Only their stalls in Marsiling Mall and 219 Jalan Besar will still be in operation now.

Yan Ji Seafood Soup - Storefront

The family-run business has been operating since 1983 and is extremely popular with seafood lovers. This is especially so due to their high-quality seafood and extremely gao ingredient-filled soup. Over the years, they have also collected numerous accolades, mentions and awards for their stellar seafood soup, which can be seen on their Woodlands store front.

Besides seafood soup, the brand also serves non-seafood options such as Pig Trotters at their Woodlands branch. So if seafood is not your thing, not to fret, they’l have something else for you. The pig trotters are said to be extremely tender, fatty and indulgent which is quite surprising, considering the store does even specialise in this particular dish.

Yan Ji Seafood Soup’s main offerings range from a more bare-bones Simple Seafood Soup that was exclusive to their Bedok outlet, to a more indulgent Premium Seafood Soup (S$32.90).

In particular, fan favourites have always been their Dory Seafood Soup (S$7.50 for small, S$9.50 for medium) and the Crayfish Seafood Soup (S$14/S$16/S$18 for Dory, Batang or Red Grouper). Their Crayfish Seafood Soup features a medley of minced pork, fresh and juicy prawns, dory slices, lala and the star of the show: whole crayfish.

Yan Ji Seafood Soup really takes the prize for having more seafood than soup, so if you’re particularly craving some fresh and succulent seafood, you know where to go.

Although they are no longer in Bedok, you can still get your seafood soup fix at their other 2 outlets. So, get rushing down!
