A new normal for Miss Hong Kong 2020 ?

12 Jun – Sandy Yue recently expressed hope that this year's Miss Hong Kong pageant will achieve a new balance between traditional television and online platform.

As reported on Mingpao, the TVB Assistant General Manager who spoke to the media at the press conference and global online recruitment event of the said pageant on 11 June, shared that they will be introducing many new features in the upcoming competition, particularly more personal elements.

"You can see the participants' living conditions, and people can also ask these beauty hopefuls questions about their taste in fashion and personality. We hope to give something equally exciting online and offline," she said.

As to whether the company would filter certain things like political opinion, Sandy stated that she has no intention to do so for the time being.

"Since it will be done online, we will give them considerable freedom. The audiences' questions are also very valuable," she said.

As to how they will determine the finalists, Sandy stated that there will be multiple rounds and ways to determine the identity of the contestants, seeing that it would be almost impossible for contestants from overseas to return to Hong Kong to compete in person due to the pandemic.

The coronation event itself will be held in late August.
