Noodle Star K: Authentic Korean Cold Noodle store opens new Funan outlet

Prided as a store that sells 100% authentic Korean cuisine, Noodle Star K has opened a new outlet at Funan mall. With its original outlet at Tanjong Pagar, Noodle Star K is renowned for refreshing handmade naengmyeon (Korean cold noodles).

It’s the perfect fix for Singapore’s scorching weather!

Submerged in icy cold broth, both the Mul Naengmyeon ($16.80) and Bibim Naengmyeon (S$13.80) have recognisable greyish-brown noodles that are made from buckwheat flour and potato starch. Unlike traditional buckwheat noodles, this unique combination of ingredients gives the noodles a chewy, jelly-like texture that will keep you coming back for more.

If you’re craving something warm and comforting, Noodle Star K also offers other types of noodles, too. This includes a piping bowl of Chicken Kalguksu (S$17.80) or the go-to classic Jjajangmyeon (S$13.80).

As a seafood lover, the top dish in my “to-try” list will be the Seafood Kalguksu (S$18.80). One can enjoy a delightful mixture of seafood served with authentic knife-cut noodles in umami broth that has been simmered to perfection over several hours.

Aside from Noodle Star K’s wide variety of noodles, they do offer signature side dishes such as tender Korean dumplings that come with 2 filling choices – Kimchi or Gogi Mandu (S$10.80). Wrapped in a glossy layer of skin, these dumplings are generously stuffed with tangy kimchi or fresh chives and juicy minced pork.

Fun fact! Although these Korean dumplings have a similar delicate mouthfeel to Chinese dumplings, a mandu has an extra fold which gives it a circular shape.

If you would like to enjoy both fillings in one sitting, you may order a Mixed Dumpling Basket (S$12.80) for a tasty combination of Kimchi and Gogi Korean dumplings.

TLDR: Yes, Noodle Star K’s naengmyeon is the perfect fix for sunny days.
